Kennected Publishes New Article on How to View LinkedIn Profiles Anonymously

Kennected published an article on how to view LinkedIn profiles anonymously. This is because many LinkedIn users want to know how to view other people’s profiles without them knowing. It is a common inquiry because people are sometimes curious but are not looking to make a connection. Viewing profiles anonymously is also useful for when users want to do research about their competition.

LinkedIn’s default setting shows users when somebody else viewed their profile. This means if a user is logged in to aprofile and they visit someone’s account, the viewed account owner will be notified via their own LinkedIn updates. Therefore they will see the peron's identity who visited their profile via their profile history.

But as a versatile business tool, LinkedIn offers plenty of different functions that can help users achieve their goals. For those who are just starting out on LinkedIn and just want to find their way around the site, viewing profiles anonymously is ideal.

Kennected recommends using LinkedIn’s features to change one's browsing mode. To do this, LinkedIn provides the following instructions:

Click the Me icon at the top of one's LinkedIn homepage.Select Settings & Privacy from the dropdown. Click the Privacy tab at the top of the page.

Under the How others see one's personalzied LinkedIn activity section, click Change next to Profile viewing options. Select the mode most pleasing to browse in. There are three options. Your name and headline. Private profile characteristics (i.e. job title and current company). Private mode. When browsing profiles anonymously, the user will still appear in that person’s account as part of their “Who’s Viewed Your Profile” section, but LinkedIn will only list the user as a “LinkedIn Member” rather than telling the person who the user is. The person will still get the notification that someone visited their profile but will not see who it was.

LinkedIn’s private and semi-private modes are for users who want to view profiles anonymously. In private mode, users will still appear in the Who’s Viewed The owner's Profile section as “LinkedIn Member – this person is viewing profiles in private mode”. No other information will be shared about the user.

In semi-private mode, only the job title, company, school, and industry will be shown to the member visiting. Keep in mind that using private and semi-private mode will also limit the information one receives when people visit a profile. With a Premium LinkedIn account, users are able to browse in private mode while still seeing the list of people who viewed their profile in the last 90 days. This is not possible with a Basic (free) account.

Even with a Premium account, users are not able to see the names of users who visited their profile while in private mode. This is because LinkedIn respects each member’s privacy settings.

There are many benefits to viewing profiles anonymously. If users want to do some research so that they could update their own profiles, this is a good way to do it. At the end of the day, it’s all about making the most out of LinkedIn’s many features. Kennected is a premium tool for generating leads on LinkedIn via automation.
