Leading Infrastructure Firm GRT Announces Expansion in the Middle East

Leading alternative road construction, dust control and mining services firm Global Road Technology (GRT), based in Yatala, Queensland, has announced that they are further building their international capabilities with a joint venture that focuses on the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) region. The new entity is known as the GRT MENA and is the result of its partnership with end-to-end construction and industrial services company Al Massarat. The MENA region has a population of 600 million people across 19 different countries at various stages of economic development, all requiring critical infrastructure to help build their economies. Many of these countries are also responsible for a substantial percentage of the worldwide oil and gas output.

Mr Youssef Farah, Director of Operations for GRT MENA, says, “GRT MENA is being set-up specifically to meet the wide-spread need from the region’s oil and gas, civil construction and development industries for fast and effective infrastructure solutions utilising products and services proven to reduce dust pollution, maintenance costs and improve safety.”

GRT is a global leader when it comes to the development of infrastructure and process solutions for the civil, mining, and agricultural sectors. These solutions are designed to minimise safety problems and the environmental impact of roadbuilding. These can be applied to different soil types and are very adaptable. These GRT solutions are expected to lower maintenance costs, protect the environment, enhance safety and reduce vehicle damage, provide erosion control, and enhance the health and quality of life of workers and communities.

Mr Farah adds, “In a region that spans such a large area comprised of countries at various stages of economic development, cost-effective road-building solutions are critical in addressing a shortfall in paved roads – a vital factor in improving transport connections to help grow trade-links. These projects are attracting hundreds of billions of dollars of investment at a national and international level, and GRT MENA is well-placed to support this investment and improve life-quality for people in the region via our range of innovative products that specifically fulfil the requirements of road stabilisation and dust control when building new roads.”

Through the help of GRT MENA, infrastructure projects and industrial operations will be delivered in a much faster and more cost-effective manner, in comparison to the traditional methods. These are environmentally friendly solutions that can be used across a broad range of industries utilising special materials to create safer workplaces and sustainable infrastructure.

According to GRT's General Manager, Mr Daniel Grundy, their products, services and applications are well suited to the MENA. “Our products, applications and services are ideal for the MENA region. Further to this, our experience in dust control, soil stabilization, and saving water will also play a key-role in an arid region where water is scarce, dune migration often smothers or undercuts built infrastructure, and dust impacts daily life,” said Mr Grundy.

“GRT is a recognised leader when it comes to soil stabilization around the world. GRT products can resolve critical issues facing the oil and gas and development sector across the MENA Region. We also see ourselves being able to partner with governments, the UN and World Bank and NGO’s in playing our part in improving quality of life through the provision of safe and reliable infrastructure and workplaces."
