Malphrus Brings Honor To Jasper County For His Drug Enforcement Feat

Christopher “Chris” Malphrus, a five-time recipient of the National Criminal Enforcement Association for the largest criminal interdiction seizure in the United States, is gaining more popularity for his feat in drug enforcement in Jasper County, South Carolina.

Malphrus, who now serves the Ridgeland Police Department, is best known for his dedication to eradicating drugs. In his 17 years in law enforcement, he has made some of the largest drug-related money seizures across the US, reaching approximately $7 million, and over 1,000 pounds of narcotics. And with his passion for drug enforcement, he has received numerous awards for his record-breaking drug-related seizures and programs.

Apart from NCEA, other drug enforcement agencies have also acknowledged the outstanding feat of Malphrus. In 2015, Malphrus won the Drug Enforcement Agency Recognition Challenge Coin for accomplishing a $1.75 million money seizure.

In 2010, the El Paso Intelligence Center also recognized him for the largest ecstasy seizure in the US. Also, in the same year, he received the Jasper County Officer of the Year award. With his consistent performance, Malphrus was also named as Crimestoppers Officer of the Year, not just once but three times already. These awards are only among the many others he has received in the past years.

Despite all the recognition he already received, Malphrus continues to hone his skills and knowledge, especially on drug enforcement. He trained in combat with the latest trends in the criminal and drug arena. Malphrus was also able to train all over the US. At present, he is finishing his Bachelor’s degree in the criminal justice field.

According to Malphrus, his inspiration for his passion is his biological mother, who struggled with drug and alcohol addictions. “I lost my mom to those addictions at the age of sixteen, but God had a bigger plan,” says Malphrus. After finding a new home and family, he also dedicated his life to service.

Beyond his duty as an officer, Malphurs also shares some roles in the community. He was able to serve as coordinator of special programs such as the Thank a Police Officer Day and Easter Seals, among other activities.

Malphrus aims to end all drug problems in the area as he bids for another term as sheriff of Jasper County. He wants to continue the war against drug activity in Jasper County, where 85% of crimes that occur are drug-related. Aside from ending drugs, it is also his mission to protect the lives, property, and rights of all citizens, while maintaining and enforcing the laws of Jasper County.

”I will carry out this mission by working alongside our officers daily, helping, coaching, and providing the necessary training to keep our county safe; by working with our citizens to hear concerns and build trust among the officers and community,” says Malphrus.
