Sobriety Goals: Lighthouse Treatment Center Hosts Soccer Game Outing For Its Alumni

Anaheim, California – The Lighthouse Treatment Center, a drug and alcohol recovery facility in Anaheim, California, is organizing a soccer game outing for its alumni on March 7, 2020. Members of the Lighthouse alumni program are all invited to attend the game which will feature LA Galaxy battling it out against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Jocel Bibera, alumni relations coordinator of the Lighthouse, said that the soccer game outing is an annual event that alumni soccer and non-soccer fans alike look forward to attending. Bibera added that one of the goals of their program’s activities is to introduce sober activities members could enjoy.

“Cheering for the same team is always a group-bonding experience, and to be able to watch a sporting event with a sober group helps create more confidence in our community members to have more sober experiences,” said Bibera.

Chris P., a Lighthouse alumnus, shared that he is excited to attend this year’s outing as it proved to be an enjoyable experience when he attended last year.

“I had so much fun with my alumni family at the soccer game outing last year. I was able to see how much fun I can have in sobriety without using any mind-altering substances. It was a great way to get to know fellow sober alumni while having fun within a safe sober group of people. I am looking forward to going again this year,” said Chris.
