Laguna Niguel, CA - Judging from the number of videos out there, people seem to be endlessly entertained by videos of dogs howling. Perhaps that goes back to humanity’s fascination with the dogs’ ancestors, the wolf. Or, perhaps it's a function of so many people looking for an entertainment break while working from home right now.
All dogs, at least in theory, are capable of howling but it’s those breeds that are closer to wolves, such as Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes which seem to howl more frequently. Breeds like Terriers and Chihuahuas are less likely to howl, but they can learn. Depending on the particular dog, some dogs are more challenged by this task than others.
Teaching a dog to howl on command is one of those “tricks” that is not absolutely necessary of course, but it is fun and dogs seem to enjoy finding their inner wolf. So many owners ask how does a dog onwer go about doing this.
