Cocktails-To-Go Legal in Illinois Lead by a Newly Born Grassroots Movement

Illinois’ Governor JB Pritzker signed HB 2682 into law. This bill allows bars and restaurants in Illinois to sell cocktails-to-go. The efforts to pass this law was spearheaded by a group called Cocktails-For-Hope. Cocktails-For-Hope is a grass roots effort started in Mid-March by those concerned about Illinois’ struggling hospitality industry.

Sean O’Leary, legal and policy advisor to Cocktails-For-Hope spoke about the group making such a large impact in a small amount of time. “This group amazes me, working with Julia Momose and Ian Beacraft is a complete pleasure. We went through some great struggles during this process. But we all were confident in this being successful because we believed in this cause and believed in each other.”

The team is a diverse group lead by Julia Momose, an owner of Kumiko in Chicago, Ian Beacraft an expert in digital marketing and Sean O’Leary, a liquor lawyer and lobbyist.

Mr. O’Leary stated, “The group was hungry for change and wanted this really bad for the hospitality industry, we are ecstatic today.”
