Anaheim, California – The Lighthouse Treatment Center, a drug and alcohol treatment facility in Anaheim, CA, is hosting a kayaking and paddle boarding outing on August 15 as a part of its Lighthouse Alumni Program. The initiative aims to provide a fun summer event for its alumni members while still maintaining social distancing measures.
According to Jocel Bibera, Alumni Coordinator of the Lighthouse, they have been looking for activities that alumni members can still enjoy together but they want to make sure that attending these events will be safe.
“Social isolation can be very difficult in recovery that’s why we want to continue hosting safe outdoor events for our alumni members. Our kayaking and paddle boarding event is a great activity to have during these difficult times because it allows all of us to practice social distancing outdoors while still having fun as a group,” said Bibera.
Lighthouse alumnus, Ari Lim, shared her excitement for the upcoming event, saying that it’s helpful that these alumni activities are still ongoing even during the Covoid-19 pandemic.
“I’m very excited to go paddle boarding this weekend with my Lighthouse Alumni family. It’s been hard to find socially distant activities during this pandemic. The Lighthouse has been great with providing safe summer fun for people in recovery,” said Ari.
Brandy F., a lighthouse alumnus, shared that this is a new experience that will help new alumni recognize that they can have fun in sobriety.
“I’m so grateful to the Lighthouse for putting on these opportunities. I’ve never been paddle boarding before and I’m looking forward to a relaxing day on the water and enjoying this new experience,” said Brandy.
