In the Safe Spaces™ coworking industry program, those who own a working space can become an approved partner and help workers in their local communities find an alternative place of work. Owners of workspaces can join the program for free but they must agree to abide by the guidelines with regards to health, sanitation, and proper social distancing.
Social distancing guidelines for the program means avoiding unnecessary close contact to help in preventing the spread of the virus. Also, the physical space between people should be at least two meters or approximately six feet.
The guidelines for Safe Spaces™ also include those for cleaning and disinfecting. Cleaning can get rid of germs and minimize the risk of spreading the virus. Disinfectants may also be used to kill germs on clean surfaces. And it is also advisable to open windows and doors to boost air circulation. Parts of the workspace that need to cleaned and disinfected at least twice a day include: doorknobs and door push plates; handrails and buttons on elevators; desks and chairs and all tables; bathroom faucet handles, paper towel dispenser handles, hand dryer buttons, and toilet flush handles; kitchen faucets, refrigerator handles, coffee pot handles and buttons, and microwave and toaster buttons; light switches; and handles and buttons on all equipment.
Members of these workspaces will also need to comply with personal hygiene guidelines. They should be provided with paper towels, tissues, alcohol-based hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and hand soap at all sinks. Additional hand sanitizing stations should also be installed in high traffic areas in various parts of the workspace. Members should avoid touching their nose, eyes, and mouth with unwashed hands. Signs should be posted to educate and remind members on proper handwashing techniques. Washing of hands should be with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. And handwashing should be done before eating; after coughing, sneezing, or nose blowing; after using the toilet; before handling food; and after using shared equipment, such as keyboards. Hygiene and safety training should also be provided for all workers.
For beverages, the guideline is to provide paper cups for water, tea, and coffee. For food, only pre-wrapped food items should be allowed in the workspaces. And if there is a confirmed case of Covid19 in a particular workspace, or members or that workspace have been exposed to a confirmed case, Upflex should be informed immediately so that a full cleaning and disinfection of the workspace can be performed.
