Walk-On’s Sports Bar in Montgomery, Alabama Serves Delicious Cajun Cuisine

Walk-On’s welcomes guests and fans to their sports bar in Montgomery, Alabama. Walk-On’s is a popular establishment that serves Cajun cuisine made from fresh ingredients. They serve mouthwatering dishes such as Voodoo Shrimp & Grits (made with corn grits topped with chargrilled shrimp, cream cheese and pickled jalapeños wrapped in bacon in a sweet chili glaze) and Ribeye Poboys (stuffed with sliced blackened ribeye, Swiss, caramelized onions, garlic aioli and dijon horseradish). Walk-On’s doors are open for anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Cajun cuisine and a one-of-a-kind game day atmosphere.

The sports bar was born from the dream of Brandon Landry and Jack Warner, who quickly became friends as walk-ons on the Louisiana State University basketball team. They travelled across the country during their time as players. On these travels, they were able to visit some of the best sports bars in America, and that is when they realized the need for something similar in Baton Rouge.

Landry and Warner did not have much business experience or financial backing, but they were fueled by their determination to make their vision a reality. All of their hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence was realized when Walk-On’s Bistreaux and Bar opened on September 9, 2003. Over the following years, Walk-On’s pursued expansion while sticking to their mission of delivering a memorable game day experience with a taste of Louisiana — created by an All-American team.

Thanks to their mouth watering dishes, Walk-On’s has received numerous awards and recognition. It has been named the #1 sports bar by ESPN and a winner for the Nation Restaurant’s News’ Menu Masters Award. It has also secured the #1 spot on Entrepreneur’s 2020 Top New Franchises Ranking. Today, Walk-On’s has over 100 locations in the works across 15 different US states.

The sports bar also sought to give back to the community, and established the Walk-On’s Game On Foundation. The Game On Foundation is dedicated to rebuilding and refurbishing youth sports facilities and giving children safer, better places to play in. They are also currently running a relief kitchen for victims of Hurricane Laura in Lake Charles and the surrounding areas.

Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux also takes a great deal of pride in the positive reviews many of their customers have let online. Jessica S. writes on Yelp, “Amazing food. Top ranked so far among the restaurants we’ve been to. Can’t beat the good stuff, we had a burger and fries and the Louisiana Combo. Delicious! Service was absolutely great, we had some questions about the area, and the waitress Madi was so sweet and talked with us for a little bit. Wonderful place! Also co-owned by Drew Brees, so there’s sports memorabilia everywhere.”

In another Yelp review, Claudia A. writes, “OMG, I died and went to Cajun-fried heaven! This place is fantastic, every dish at our table was amazing. We started with the Boudin Balls that come with a horseradish dip, perfect! The Boom Boom Shrimp also did not last. I got the Voodoo Shrimp and Grits. Oh my, they were slap-your-momma-not-once-but-twice good! The perfect blend of sweet corn grits with creepy bacon wrapped shrimp in a chili sauce. I licked the plate clean, which is saying a lot since I normally nibble and eat like a mouse. The food baby was worth it. My date got the Louisiana Combo, and he loved it too. It had fried shrimp, perfectly seasoned catfish and sweet yummy hush puppies. We also tried the Crawfish Atchafalaya and the Stuffed Burger (careful, it’s messy) and raved about that too. Don’t hesitate, don’t think twice, run over and have a great feast at Walk-On’s. Your belly will thank you.”
